Ionos No Longer Supported
Hello,
Due to changes with Ionos’s security policy, outside of our control, it is no longer possible to send emails through their severs if the sender address has a different domain to the corresponding mailbox.
Sending emails with an empty sender address will also no longer be possible.
What does this mean for you?
A change of email provider will be required by all customers who wish to utilize the send mail function within TM Master who are currently using Tero Marine supplied IONOS accounts.
The send mail function will not be available until this change is made.
This will affect the sending of quotations, purchase order, reminders etc.
Replication has remained unaffected by this change.
Changing of the mail settings within TM Master.
There are five documents attached to this email.
Please follow the “How to configure TM Master to use 0auth2” guide if you wish to use a Microsoft365 accounts for replication/sending mail.
If you wish to use a non-Microsoft 365 based account, please follow the “TM Master Replication Configuration” and “TM Master Mail Configuration” Guides.
The update existing rule document can then be used no matter what mail accounts are to be selected to update the email addresses that the office/vessel sends the replication files to.
IMPORTANT – We suggest that the service at both the office and the vessels are stop during the changing of the email accounts.
Information on how to stop the system service can be found in an attached image.
Email services to not use.
Tero Marine does not support Gmail/Yahoo for use with TM Exchange.
The reason being that there are settings within Gmail that may make it difficult to use in connection with TM Exchange. Tero Marine are often tasked with troubleshooting and figuring out which settings to change. This has proven to be a time-consuming process in the past and is something we wish to avoid in the future.
Gmail has strict policies of not letting unknown entities access its accounts (such as TM Exchange). This might create problems when TM Exchange tries to either download mail from a POP3 Gmail account or send mail using a SMTP Gmail account.
Gmail also has the possibility to use a strict two-step verification process to log on to the account. When this is turned on, TM Exchange has no way of being able to log on to the account.
In addition to this, there are several Gmail settings that need to be configured for TM Exchange to work with Gmail. (Enable POP, delete Gmail’s email copies from the POP server, etc.)
Lastly, using a 3rd party email provider where you have little, or no control of changes made to your mail account is not recommended. This is due to the possibility that those changes could, at any time, cause TM Exchange to stop working.
Customers can still use Gmail in the TM Exchange replication settings, but should there be complications, Tero Marine cannot be held responsible for loss of communication caused by these issues.
Thank you for your understanding.
